Professor Ramesh Jain gave a presentation on smart social system in NUS. The talk, entitled, "Smart Social System", described recent challenges in building a social system that is based on connecting needs to resources efficiently, effectively and promptly.
Professor Jain said that the availability of enormous volumes of heterogeneous cyber-physical-social data streams allows the design and implementation of networks to connect various data sources to detect situations with little latency. “These new opportunities lie in designing smart social systems which can be useful for important issues at the local as well as the global level,” he said to 30 NUS researchers.
Professor Jain is an entrepreneur, researcher and educator. He serves as the first Bren Professor in Information & Computer Science at University of California, Irvine. He is also a fellow of ACM, IEEE, AAAI, IAPR, and SPIE.
